An enormous fountain of superheated gas erupts from the Sun in this recently released image from Solar Orbiter, a European Sun-watching spacecraft. Known as a solar prominence, it was tens of thousands of miles long. The Sun has produced a series of prominences and similar eruptions in recent days, disrupting some radio transmissions and threatening orbiting satellites. [ESA/NASA/Solar Orbiter/EUI Team, D. Berghmans (ROB)]
