About StarDate Radio
StarDate Radio and sister program Universo (Spanish language) are daily two minute astronomy and science radio features produced by The University of Texas at Austin McDonald Observatory.
Programs highlight interesting current and historical events or objects in the night sky, with details on the underlying science and related topics.
StarDate explains the life cycle of stars and distant galaxies. It recounts tales of ancient skylore and alerts listeners to future space missions that will increase our knowledge of the universe.
Designed to be sponsored and underwritten locally or nationally, the program format allows insertion of sponsored messages as intros or outros. StarDate has been broadcast nationally for 31 years and Universo has been broadcast both nationally and internationally for 14 years.
