The star cluster Messier 37 contains hundreds of stars, many of which are shown in this photograph of its center. The cluster, which spans a few dozen light-years, is about 4,500 light-years away and is roughly half a billion years old. It’s in the constellation Auriga the charioteer, which is high in the east as night falls. [Jim Mazur/Wikipedia]
