A Mars-orbiting spacecraft snapped this picture of the interstellar object 3I/ATLAS moving through the background of stars in early October. The object, which appears to be a comet, will pass closest to the Sun on October 29, and closest to Earth on December 19. It will miss our planet by a comfortable 167 million miles (269 million km). It is the third confirmed visitor from beyond the solar system ever discovered. [ESA/TGO/CaSSIS]
