The Geminid meteor shower reaches its peak on the nights of December 12 and 13. If you trace its “shooting stars,” they all appear to enter the atmosphere from the constellation Gemini. However, they can streak across any part of the night sky, so you don’t have to look toward Gemini to see them. The shower peaks earlier in the night than many others, making it a popular skywatching event. [Tim Jones/StarDate]
