The globular star cluster Messier 3 sparkles brilliantly in this Hubble Space Telescope image. The cluster is about 34,000 light-years away, in Canes Venatici, the hunting dogs. It contains hundreds of thousands of ancient stars. The cluster is far above the disk of the Milky Way Galaxy, so it would offer a tremendous view of our home galaxy. [ESA-Hubble/NASA/G.
