Perseverance touches down on Mars

A camera aboard the “skycrane” that was lowering the Perseverance rover to the surface of Mars captured the moment of touchdown on February 18. The skycrane then released the rover and flew away so it wouldn’t interfere with Perseverance’s operations. Early reports indicate the rover is in good health, although it will be weeks before it begins full science operations. [NASA]
