Unmasking Hidden Stars
Featured on June 24, 2014
Young stars blaze forth in this infrared view of Serpens South, a vast complex of gas, dust, and newborn stars in the constellation Serpens. The cluster's dust veils most of the stars at visible wavelengths, making them difficult to see. Infrared wavelengths penetrate the dust, showing the cluster's hot, young stars in detail.
