Space shuttle Atlantis touches down at Kennedy Space Center, Florida, to end the final shuttle mission before dawn July 21. The shuttle program recorded 135 flights, including more than a dozen dedicated to astronomy and space science. Shuttles deployed Hubble Space Telescope and two other large space observatories, sent probes to Venus and Jupiter, and delivered an experiment to the International Space Station that is studying dark matter, antimatter, and cosmic rays. For its final mission, Atlantis delivered five tons of supplies to the station. [NASA]
