Hubble's Deepest View
(From the May/June 2004 issue of StarDate magazine)

Hubble Space Telescope’s deepest look into the heavens to date reveals thousands of galaxies, some of which were born more than 13 billion years ago, when the universe was as young as 300 million to 700 million years. The larger galaxies in the image are younger and closer, while the oldest appear as small reddish dots or smudges of light. HST obtained the image by focusing on one tiny piece of the sky for almost 12 days.
