Magnetar
Magnetar
An artist's concept shows the powerful magnetic field surrounding a magnetar. It is the crushed corpse of a star that exploded as a supernova. It spins so rapidly that it produces a magnetic field that may be a trillion times stronger than Earth's. [John Rowe Animations] For more information, see our March 6 program.
